Advantages of Polyurethane Resins

Polyurethane Resins (PUR Resins or Urethane resins) is a common term for plastics made of polyalcohols and polyisocyanates that range from rigid to elastic. They have outstanding adhesion and high elasticity to different substrates. Since these polymers can be tailored to accommodate the appropriate features, they are commonly used in different applications such as fibers, films, and metal processing. The suitability of polyurethanes for many applications is defined by their consistency as they can be adapted to certain properties, for example, expansion, wear-resistance, chemical-resistance (bleaches, acids, salt solvents), and solvent-resistance.

Types and applications of polyurethane resins:

  • Rigid polyurethanes in the form of rigid foams are efficient for insulating walls, windows, doors, and ceilings and for achieving a uniform temperature and reducing noise levels so they are widely used in homes and commercial setups in the form of polyurethane foams.
  • Polyurethane Flexible Foamis used for cushioning purposes for various consumer and industrial goods such as car interiors, chairs, mattresses, packaging, etc. It is lightweight, durable, and offers support.
  • The addition of polyurethane to adhesives, sealants, coatings, and elastomers leads to its longevity and appearance. Polyurethane elastomers are lightweight and resistant to many environmental factors, recover more rapidly and effectively from stress, and can be modeled in multiple types.
  • Various forms of fiberglass and particles may be made to bond with polyurethane binders. Some places where such binders are applied are sand casting in casting mills, rubber flow, wood panels, etc.
  • Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) is very versatile, long-lasting, and elastic and can withstand high impacts, unfavorable weather, and abrasion. Since it provides endless combinations of physical properties, it is highly versatile and can be used in numerous industries, from construction to footwear.

Polyurethane 3D Printing

3D Printing of Polyurethane is an innovative procedure for producing polyurethane components without using a physical mold. Resin 3D prints produce particularly smooth and precise objects. It is suitable for decorative objects, but it can also be used for more mechanical applications. The resin 3D printing is also often used in prototyping new designs by major corporations and also for the production of end products.

Liberty Pultrusions has been a leading pioneer in the pultrusion industry for more than 40 years. They are a client-oriented company that offers quality, economical solutions. Their competitive pricing, accuracy, experience, and high-quality goods help them keep their customers satisfied. The process of pultrusion enables them to produce goods that are superior to other material forms such as steel, aluminum, or timber that are longer lasting. Their Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics (FRP) Pultrusions are very lightweight, corrosion-resistant and non-electric, and heat-conductive. They now offer pultrusions manufactured using propriety polyurethane resin technology in both aromatic and aliphatic polyurethane resins.

Liberty Pultrusion manufacturers use polyurethane resin technology for custom pultrusions. The advantage is that Urethane has a 40% stiffer profile than Polyester, allowing a stiffer profile or a 25% decrease of a profile thickness, which decreases the weight of the profile and retains the same rigidity as Polyester’s resin technology. They use polyurethane that offers increased strength, excellent impact resistance, high fiber volume, easy fabrication, higher specific strength, and thickness with reduced wall thickness.

Liberty Pultrusion offers polyurethane reinforced pultrusions with exceptional screw pull-out strength when compared to traditional polyester pultrusions. They have a stronger profile spanning and produce smoke much less than polyester or vinyl ester. They also have resins that are aliphatic, lightweight, and stable. The high Tg resin available is also available with Tg>280℃. The resins offer no Styrene emissions, no peroxides, and no volatile organic compounds. The products offered by Liberty Pultrusion have vast industrial applications. Their products are used in several industries including Architectural, Agricultural Space, Car & Trucking Auto, Construction / House, electrical services, bridges, power, railway, military, and many more.
